Photographed on a clear, calm evening in the soutwest desert of the United States Brett captured Circle of Life. Sitting high above the canyon below, tucked under an alcove carved into vertical cliffs rests this secret Indian ruin. The purpose of the site is still debated among archeologists along with the age but one thing is certain… the view from this secluded balcony is breathtaking. Brett sat patiently by his camera for hours as the light in the distance shifted and slowly illuminated the canyon in warm hues and soft light.
Mystere is a dreamy photograph of a crystal clear river in a small slot canyon in Southern Utah. Brett was captivated by an unusual crack in the stone where water seemed to jet through it, carving it deeper and deeper. “I immediately saw the photograph in my mind. A cloud trapped between two stones.” recalls Brett. “I knew that with the right exposure I could turn the water into fog and at the same time capture the goldish reflection of the warm canyon walls above.” Being careful not to slip, Brett stabilized his tripod and captured the shot. The result is a magical image that can be displayed horizontally or vertically.
Photographed on an early summer morning along the coast of Lake Tahoe, Zen is a simple image that captivates many emotions. The calm water and smooth stones of this region of Western Nevada are a great contrast to the harsh deserts the state is known for. “The warm glow of sunrise was intensified by a slight haze.” recalls Brett. “I had spent several days visiting this spot, waiting for the perfect light. I was pleasantly surprised by the pinkish hues that presented themselves that morning. The calm water and still silence gave me a sense of peace as I framed my shot and captured Zen.”
Gotham City was captured on a cool autumn morning in the slot canyons of Zion National Park in Utah. This unusual canyon formation captivated Brett’s attention as warm light worked its way upstream and into the cavernous room. “What really fascinated me about these pools was the crystal clear water highlighted by yellow, swirling leaves that had dropped in from the vistas above. “ recalls Brett. His inspiration to capture the movement of the water and the warmth of the rounded walls creates a sense of peace in the image.
